POSTAGE

SHAW SOUNDS value your records and tapes as much as you do, so please consider the following methods of postage and packing.

You have several options for getting your recordings safely to us :

s

1)  Royal Mail Standard Postthis is the cheapest method but carries no insurance.

2)  Royal Mail Recorded Delivery this requires a signature on delivery and has a basic insurance of approx £35.00.

                                                                   ----------------------

3)  Royal Mail Next Day Special Deliveryusing this method offers the best possible security and is fully trackable.

Guaranteed delivery by 1.00pm the following day requiring a signature - insurance value approx £500.

4)  CourierThis is the most convenient and cost effective way of sending larger quantities of records and tapes.

We suggest companies like Parcel2Go or Interparcel, these use DHL, UPS or Parcelforce for their deliveries.

Records and tapes should be sent to us in secure packaging - we suggest using stout cardboard and bubble wrap for safe trasportation. For 78rpm records please read the instructions  below.

Please write on your outer packaging  "RECORDS - DO NOT BEND"  before posting.

Just as a reminder - please pack your records and tapes carefully using suitable materials. Bubble wrap envelopes are a very good product, and of course bubble wrap itself is invaluable! Polystyrene or water soluble packing chips are excellent, and of course the old standby - newspaper is alright too - cheap and easily available. Once the items are protected, seal the package well with brown parcel tape.

78 rpm Records

The golden rule here is 'Do not skimp on packaging just to save postage costs'. Use your common sense and package your recordings to survive the journey.

78 shellac records are very delicate and brittle - it does pay to package them adequately.

Generally the more discs in a package the less likely there is to be any damage. Discs provide protection for each other. 78 rpm records are strong but brittle. When parceling use plenty of bubble wrap and thick cardboard, this certainly helps. The discs should be protected on both sides, preferably by several squares of card. Cut the card into squares a little larger than the discs and fix these squares firmly around them with adhesive tape. The record itself will then be held tightly and safely by the pressure.

If required we can organise a courier service to get them safely from your door to ours! We receive large quantities of records per year without incident. So you can be confident that your items are as safe as we can possibly make them.

We cannot accept any responsibility for items we receive damaged or lost through inadequate packaging or labelling. Please make sure you put your return address on the outside of the package and your contact details, (telephone & email) and any instructions inside the package before posting.

Reminder !

Please note that return postage costs will need to be included in your payment.

1. Full details of your requirements - titles, running order & number of copies etc.

2. Your contact telephone numbers & mobile number if available.

3. Your full postal address and email if possible.

Special arrangements for personal collection and delivery are available.
